FACT SHEET #46 | Default values in energy performance of buildings standards

The set of European standards supporting the implementation of the 2010 Energy Performance of Buildings Directive should be publicly available in 2017. It includes informative default values in annexes, with the dual purpose to make the standards “ready-to-use” and to leave flexibility to the European member states to define different values when transposing the Directive. This fact sheet describes the different types of default values that can be implemented, and the precautions to be taken when using them as input data for establishing the Energy Performance Certificate of a building.
