FACT SHEET #37 | Labelling schemes and their role in building related compliance frameworks

Labelling schemes of products used for constructing and finishing a building can be useful in two perspectives:

(1) They are important for informing stakeholders about the quality of the awarded products and thus contribute to creating societal support for securing acceptance of specific requirements.

(2) They can be used as evidence that specified requirements are met and thus support compliance frameworks on building level. It is crucial that labelling programs cover a substantial number of products and produce credible labels easy to comprehend.

This fact sheet looks at voluntary and mandatory labelling schemes and explores their role in building related compliance frameworks aiming at improving energy efficiency.
